Hampshire County Council -
Information Centre Aldershot, Increase slip resistance to the
floor.
Customers needs: Increase
slip resistance to an office terrazzo floor.
Results: When we first
visited the office we tested the floor to measure the slip
resistance using our Pendulum Tester. The result was that the
floor dry was safe, but with a small amount of water, the floor
became very slippery and dangerous. We then treated the floor
with our different solutions and then tested each area to find
the best result and solution. We found that SPS was the best
solution for them. In the dry the floor was still very safe, and
when we wet the floor and tested it again, we increase the floor
slip resistance to above the minimum guide lines. We increased
the slip resistance by 200%.
Nelson Bakewell- Office
Building in Reigate, Increase slip resistance to the entrance
floor
Customers needs: Lime
stone floor entrance that when wet is extremely slippery and
dangerous.

Results: As with all our
works, we are normally called in to the test the floor first and
to give an appraisal on the best solution for the customer.
Having tested the floor with the Pendulum and after applying 2
different solutions, SPS was again the best solution and gave
the higher reading in the wet.
We increased the resistance by
200% and to keep the level of resistance up, we offer our
Maintainer Cleaner which removes all grime and calcium deposits
off the floor and regenerates the solutions on the floor to keep
the level high.
We also advised the customer to
regularly test the floor to ensure the slip level has be
maintained and it creates an audit trail which shows due
diligence.
CC Cousins – Shopping Centre
in Sudbury
Customer needs: Increase
slip resistance to the shopping centre floor.
Overview: This is an open
roof shopping centre, so the floor is constantly being hit by
the weather. In the wet the floor is extremely slippery. We were
asked to find a solution that would not affect the current
cleaning regime, and increase the slip resistance of the floor.

Results: This shopping
centre has had some slips, and the current owners were concerned
that this problem wouldn't go away. We were asked to test the
floor and see which of our solutions would be best suited.
The floor being a rough tile with
an “R” rating of 12 which is a non slip tile in the dry but when
wet, and not cleaned correctly, the tile becomes very slippery.
As a result of this our test showed that using SPS, we were able
to increase the slip resistance by 300%, scoring above the
minimum guide line.
Using our SPC1, the floor kept
its slip resistance above the minimum score. For the cleaning
regime, we just changed the customers cleaning solution to ours
and started a maintenance program, where Surefooted would test
the floor regularly to ensure that they stayed above the HSE
guide lines.
Playa Victoria Hotel –
Granada, Costa Del Sol, Spain
Customers needs: Entrance
to the hotel has a ramp made from tiles, and when wet becomes
extremely slippery. They also have 136 bedrooms that they have
found customers slip and injure themselves.
Result: We treated the
ramp with our SPS solution. This increased the friction of the
floor by 500%. The bath issues were that people stepping in and
out could potentially fall. They also used bath mats, but found
customers would not use them. We cleaned each bath, and treated
the bath with our Safebath solution. Now when customers use the
shower or bath, they can feel much safer, as when water is
applied to the surface, there is a grip which stops you from
falling. Our Safebath solution does not change the look of the
bath and it cannot be seen, but will stop you from slipping in
the wet.
Holiday Inn Hotel Regents Park
Customers needs: Around
the serving area of the restaurant there is a tiled floor that
becomes very slippery when wet, they want to increase resistance
and prevent the potential of a slip or fall.
Result: When tested the
floor was a high risk of slip, but after we had treated the
floor with our SPS we found that the floor was 300% safer in the
wet than previously giving the floor a low risk of slip result
and above the current guide lines.
Cardiff City Council Private
Car Park -
Customers Needs – The car
needed a seal on the deck to protected the concrete from
crumbling and also needed a non slip surface as the floor when
wet and icy became very slippery and dangerous. They also wanted
the bays marking our and the floor sprayed with a colour.
Results: We removed all
the debris from the floor and prepared the floor for the coats
of sealant, once down we applied a 2 coat epoxy glue and a BBA
approved grit which will stick on to the glue giving you the non
slip surface. Once all the deck was done we then sprayed the
deck with a rubber paint and marked out the bays. This surface
will protect the concrete and reduce any potential for a slip in
both wet and icy conditions, there is a 10 year warranty on the
